中学時代:
アメリカのHip-hop・R&Bをよく聴き、そのスタイルの影響を受ける。詩を書き始める。
高校時代:
初めて宇多田ヒカルの曲を耳にし、J-POPに興味を持つようになる。
2004年:
夏、日本語のクラスを取り始める。同時に歌う事が好きだと発見し、一人で練習し始める。
2005年:
インターネットの音楽活動に参加。歌う事についてアドバイスと評論を受けたりする。
様々なインターネット上の歌のコンテストへの参加を開始。
Calder Music Academyで３ヶ月間ソロ・ヴォーカル・レッスンを受ける。
2006年:
英語・日本語・中国語・韓国語の曲に全部挑戦。
８月、University of California, Berkeley大学に入学。
英語の作詞・作曲に挑戦し、オリジナル・コラボレーションに参加。日本語の詩を書き始める。
2007年:
夏、YUIおよびYoutube上のアマチュア・ミュージシャンに影響されて、
独学でギターを始める。ギターで作曲を開始。（歌詞は日本語と英語）
初めて弾き語りの映像を「Youtube」にアップロードする。
2008年:
２月、オリジナル曲の「分かれ道」がYoutube Japanのお勧めの動画に選ばれる。
人前でよく弾き語りの演奏をして、ストリートライブと大学のキャンパスライブにも挑戦。
夏、大学のタレントショーで１００人以上の観客にオリジナル曲をソロの弾き語りで披露。
８月、オリジナル曲の「日差し」がYoutube Japanのお勧めの動画に選ばれる。
１０月、Youtubeの動画再生回数が百万を超え、チャネル登録者が４０００人を超える。
１１月１３日―大学のタレントショー「The Search」にオリジナル曲で参加し、優勝。観客は１３０人くらい。
2009年
２月７日― オープンマイクライブ、Frank Bette Center for the Arts, Alameda
４月４日―San Jose State University、「Spotlight Against Diabetes」ライブ
４月２３日―オリジナル曲「Sea of Stars」がYoutube Japanのトップページにフィーチャーされる。
５月２２日―UC Berkeley大学を卒業する。

How long have you been singing and playing guitar?
I consciously started singing in 2004, and I’ve been playing guitar since summer of 2007.
Did you take lessons?
I tried out some vocal lessons a couple of years ago, during the summer; they didn’t seem to help out too much, so I stopped. I haven’t taken guitar lessons.
How did you learn to sing?
Truthfully, participating in online forums for singing. A few years ago, I began to share my singing at various music communities, such as Soompi and Soundclick. Through this, I was able to gain a great deal of valuable feedback and experience, and try different styles and languages. I also learned how to listen carefully to other amateur singers and hear what they were doing right that I wasn’t, and this helped me keep striving to improve. I also participated in some online singing contests. For the actual singing part, I used to mostly practice in my room when people were out of the house :) But lately I’ve become a little less shy about singing in front of people. It’s also fun singing with friends!
How long have you been learning Japanese?/Are you Japanese?
I was born in China, but grew up and lived in the US for most of my life. I’ve been studying Japanese since around the same time I seriously started to sing. Only lately have I been able to actively start speaking and writing lyrics in Japanese though. It’s still not easy, but I’m learning each day.
How did you get the names “Fantasiimaker” and “aozorafantasii”?
“Fantasiimaker” was something I made up in middle school; I must’ve been really into the art and music of Final Fantasy, haha. Being somewhat a dreamer, I also liked the idea of a creator of fantasies. “Aozora” means “blue sky” in Japanese. I love the sky :)
